A New Home

  Wuddup Gang!?

It's been a minute since I've given y'all an update on how things are going so I figured right now is as good of a time as any to get you caught up to speed.

Well first and foremost you've probably noticed that you are now at a new address. I have moved the blog to www.theseanfroststory.com as I feel that the name is totally fitting for the blog. With that being said, there is no need to stress on what happened to www.seanfrost.com, I have had a new site created to cater to Soundclick users. I know I know, I have always been against having my beats available for lease and truthfully I was never really that interested in being apart of Soundclick. However, the dilemma I have been faced with over the last few years is that there are many artists out there that want to record on something original but simply can't afford to buy my exclusive rights. So I decided to make myself available to everyone and if any records are purchased exclusively, then I will remove that record off of the market. I figure not only will I help out artists with smaller budgets but my site traffic will increase drastically. Essentially it's just another weapon added to my arsenal. Ultimately we all have the same goal right?...getting good music out there and being compensated for your work. So other than getting these sites set up and switched around, it's been business as usual. I've been back in the lab with rapper Odean which has been good. I'll keep y'all posted on his progress.

On another flex, my dude Niko Doughski  just released a video which is heating up the streets not just in my city right now so be sure to check it out. As a matter of fact here's the link so you can peep it now.

I think the video was really well done but you decide for yourself...and yes, yours truly makes a little cameo in the video. haha

Anyway I'm just off to the lab now to meet Odean and see what he's got cooking, but now that the sites are up and good to go expect to see a lot more of me. Also be sure to check SeanFrost.com to hear new records available for lease but encouraged for purchase! haha

Oh and before I forget, I want to take a second to remember my buddy Chris Powell. Another year has gone by but you will never be forgotten my friend. Honestly one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Life is short...Life is precious. Catch y'all on the flipside.

Music On Deck

    Wuddup Gang?!

I'm going to get right into it. It's been a busy last few weeks mixing business and pleasure with the odd hiccup along the way. I was in Montreal a few weeks ago for Osheaga (music festival) to check out Eminem perform. I know I know, I saw him less than a year ago in Detroit for the Home and Home Tour with Jay but I would never miss an opportunity to watch my idol rip the stage. After the performance I had a chance to stop by the after party which was set up along the water overlooking the downtown skyline. The view was amazing however I wish I could say the same for the music. I wasn't very impressed but what are you gonna do?...knock the DJ out with a mic stand and take over?...There were no mic stands around. I checked. I still had a great time in Montreal though and wanted to thank my buddy Tony for putting us up. We had a ton of laughs and I got the chance to really get an insight into his comedy podcast, This Won't Blow. I'm definitely going to be making an appearance on the show in the near future.

Last weekend I was in Toronto to check out the King of the Dot WD2 competition which I was planning on attending merely as a fan. However, as soon as I was getting into Toronto, I was notified of a problem concerning a magazine feature I had just done scheduled for a september release. Needless to say I was unable to attend the competition but in the end at least everything was resolved. I'll keep you guys posted on the magazine closer to it's release date.

Actually while I'm on the subject of the magazine feature though, I did have a photo shoot for the article and was fortunate to be backed up by some of the "Miss Frost Girls". I couldn't believe how easy it was to look good when you have 4 beautiful women around you! haha. I'm still waiting on the editing of the photos but I have had the chance to see most of them and wow...definitely a good look. Thanks Girls!

Oh before I forget, for all you artists out there reading this, I will be sending out beat packs starting in the near future so if you are looking for production fire an email to info@frozenbeat.net and be sure to include your name. Aside from that there's a lot going on but unfortunately I gotta run! I just got back into town from a weekend on the lake and I need to get back in the lab.

Shout Out to my boy Ali on his official launch of La Vague last week! Special Appearances were made by the CP Records Family including Massari, Danny Fernandes, and Mia Martina. It's definitely a spot that I will be going back to. If you're in Ottawa you should stop by.  Anyway I'm out. Peace!

Harvey Stripes A Dollar and a Dream Tour, Ottawa

   Wuddup Gang!?

It's been hella hot outside so I've been keepin in the air conditioned lab creating music. Don't get me wrong I don't mind being out playing sports or cruisin' when it's nice out, but when the humidity is crazy high...forget that. I spoke to my bro Mathias last night and he was saying that he wanted to reach down to New York and Jersey to do some shoe shopping so I think we're gonna try and get that popping end of the summer/ early fall. It's funny because he showed up to a photo shoot I had last night and was admiring the Nike Flights and White Skytop II Supras I purchased from New Jersey and L.A. Fine with me though, any excuse I have to reach New York I'm a take it!

On to the next. Last Saturday my guy Harvey Stripes returned to Ottawa with Mario to release his "A Dollar and a Dream" Tape and let me tell you the club was LIVE. I had all my arrangements taken care of and I was honestly expecting an average showing. You know, I was thinking "Ya I know that dude has been grinding and doing his thing for a minute, but he's been away for less than two years, how crazy can it be?" Well that was answered for me as soon as we pulled up to the VIP entrance. It was crazy at the front and just as crazy at the back! We seriously had to wait almost ten minutes to get in VIP and I'm not trying to big myself up but honestly that just doesn't happen...not in my city. I don't mean that because of who I am, although that probably does play into it but more so because if I'm gonna do something, I do it right. The Booths, Bottles, and Entrance all need to be covered. Anyway the night was definitely a success for my homie. The club was packed and Harv and Mario's performance was hype. It was my first time ever reaching the club Mansion so shout-out all the staff there as they did a good job. Solid S/O to Ilon as well as I had never met him before and he was generous enough to set me up nicely. Anyway aside from the successful release party, the tape is now available so I strongly suggest you download it. It's hot so don't sleep on it. It's available @ www.harveystripes.com .

Anyway that's about it for me, I'm off to Montreal next weekend for Osheaga followed by Toronto on the 5th-7th of August to check out King of the Dot World Domination 2 and also looking forward to just kickin' it. Well I got my own dollar and a dream to pursue so I'm gone. Stay Up.

Envy Mag and KOTD

    Wuddup Gang!?

Ok I'm in a little bit of a rush today so I'm goin' to make this quick. You know those days where you just have a ton of things to do and not enough hours in the day to do them? (like everyday)...well I'm really feelin' it today. It's 10am on Saturday morning here and I've already been hella productive. Anyway I said I wanted this to be quick and I'm already off the tracks!

The July issue of Envy Magazine is now out. Yours truly was featured in the Elements section so make sure you check me out. I don't wanna say anything more about it because I want y'all to actually go and read it! haha Here's the link. Oh wait speaking of which, definite blonde moment the other day. I did that little video blog and totally dropped the wrong address. So pretty much don't listen to anything I say on camera and focus on the links that I include...they work! Here's the link for Envy Magazine. They were also kind enough to send me some of the extra photos from the shoot so I can do what I like with them. That being said I'm going to use one or two of them on here...you know, just a little update for y'all.

Ok well enough about me. This is a historic day for Hip-Hop in my hometown in Ottawa. King of the Dot (KOTD) is here for the first time. I won't be able to stay for the whole thing but I will definitely be stopping by to see what's really good! S/O to everyone involved.

OK well that's it for me. The new pics will be added soon and I'll get @ y'all then. Peace!

Post Canada Day

   Wuddup Gang!?

I'm in the lab working on some new music and just wanted to say that I hope all my Canadians had a good Canada Day. I spent mine in the Capital, Ottawa, Canada, where it's always the livest on Canada's Birthday. It was awesome to have nice weather for a change and I was fortunate to catch some of the celebrations iinvolving the Royal Couple.

I know the Makin' That Doughski Music Group Movement was also downtown in full effect. The new mixtape "Gramz into Grandz vol. 2" was released yesterday so they were gettin' it in on the streets. As a matter of fact Doughski and Lil' Thrilla stopped by my spot later in the evening for drinks, fireworks, and politic'n to wrap up their successful day. Be sure to check out their site.

Makin' That Doughski Music Group

Anyway I gotta get back to this mix but hope y'all had a good Canada Day and I'll get @ y'all real soon!

Envy Magazine July Issue

   Wuddup Gang!?

Hope all is well on your end. Everything is good here. I've been really busy workin' in the studio and let me tell you there have been a few discoveries! I've actually been focusing on a lot of what I like to call "pop-house" records for my European market. You know the records I'm talking about, the faster, feel good, get up and move club beats. This is definitely helping my client list and fan base expand and it's refreshing trying something totally out of the box for me. Anyway other than working in the studio, I've also been slated to feature in a few Online Magazines and I will cover them all as they approach. With that being said, I am doing a feature for Envy Magazine. In the article I will be discussing things like what I take with me on the road and who the first major artist was that I had a chance to work with. I also want to mention that dealing with this publication has been great thus far. Everything is laid back yet professional. So S/O Envy Mag. And S/O to y'all for readin' this blog. I haven't posted directly on here in over two months and still almost had 2000 hits since then. Ok back to the Mag. Look for me in the July issue coming out on JULY 7th, 2011!!!

(June Issue)

One last quick note, I will be getting my first ink done real soon. I'm looking into getting Mitch Roberts, a tattoo artist in Toronto on it. I'm really excited about it and can't wait to show y'all. In terms of music, I've been bumping The Weeknd's, House of Balloons non-stop recently. If you're finding your music a little stale... don't sleep on this.

OK well that's what it is, stay blessed.

Things are Heating Up

Wuddup Gang?!

So last week was quite eventful. Had a chance to see a few local artists tear up the stage opening for Fat Joe followed by a trip to the Junos. The Junos were cool as it was nice to see some legendary Canadian Artists such as Neil Young, Brian Adams, Sarah McLaughlin, and Shania Twain. However, the Hip-Hop element to the awards show was essentially non-existent as they had already presented the  awards the previous night; furthermore, there were no urban acts scheduled to perform. Drake was an excellent host and the skits were really funny though.
Me and Sorin hitting the Junos

On another note, Muzik Live and Pink Lips Entertainment are bringing down Compton’s own, The Game. This is going to be a good show and I’m looking forward to seeing dude bless the mic. It’s still a few weeks away so I’ll keep you posted on that. What I do know is that yours truly, The Belvy Kid will be in attendance.

Other than that I have a substantial transaction being finalized at the end of the month so things are looking good for the summer. Well…that’s the update on the Sean Frost Story. Get @ y’all real soon.

Ottawa to Toronto This Weekend. Fat Joe to Junos

     Wuddup Gang!?

It's been pretty much business as usual over here...just makin' music and grindin'. Thank God the weather is finally starting to get nice again up in Canada. It's been tough staying motivated with the cold and snow coming and going and coming back again. It's funny that as soon as the weather starts getting nice, you can really feel it in the air huh? Anyway something else you start to see once the weather gets nice is all the other artists coming out of hibernation. Everyone has been either just bangin' beats or writing, waiting for the season to showcase their works and talents. This weekend I'll be coming out of the lab to actually see what's really good on the scene both in Ottawa and in Toronto.

Fat Joe will be in Ottawa City Friday Night along with a bunch of nasty upcoming artists. Shout out to the homies Young G, Khalil, Swisha T and everyone else that's set to rock the stage. So essentially as long as nobody's on some kid flex, it should be a good show. I'm a definitely reach and show my support for all these artists that are on their grind. So anyone that's in Ottawa tomorrow night, this is where you should be...

Ottawa's got some good talent but at the same time they also have a lot of counterfeits so if you're just trying to blow smoke then be good with it and please don't approach me. If you real....holla at the Belvy Kid!

On another note, it's Juno week in Toronto and I'm stoked to be heading down Saturday Night to attend Sunday's Juno Awards. Drake will be hosting the 40th Annual Celebration of the Canadian Music Awards which is a real good look.  Shout-Out to my dude Sorin who's comin' for the ride. Definitely gonna get it poppin' this weekend.

So that's pretty much it on my end...makin' beats and stoked for a busy weekend in Ottawa and Toronto. I hope y'all have a good one as well and I'll let you know what was good with everything when I get back. Concert, Junos, Juno Afterparty...That's what it is kid!

Business as Usual

  Wuddup Gang!?

Hope y'all are having a good weekend. I'm just getting over the flu myself so I haven't been doin' too much the last couple of days. I did feel well enough to get some work done in the studio yesterday tho so that's exactly what I did. Actually it's funny, I had just finished rendering a new beat when I took to Twitter and noticed 50 Cent had put up a challenge for producers to lay something down on a freestyle he'd just released. I still had an hour and a bit before I had to head out and play hockey, so I figured I'd take a crack at it. Fif mentioned he wanted something creative, so I decided to lay something down that you wouldn't normally hear 50 on. I threw it up on Thisis50.com and got a good buzz out of it. Probably mainly because many of the beats all sounded the same...you know, your typical 50 Cent beats right? Anyway here's the beat I banged together before heading out yesterday afternoon.

So that's pretty much been it around here...just getting over the flu and back to bangin' out records. I'm still off to Toronto in two weeks for a sit-down with an artist and a photoshoot. I'm definitely meant to be behind the camera tho! hahaha

Oh almost forgot I wanted to give a Shout-Out to my moms as she's heading down to Miami...have a safe trip and have a good time! Well not much else going on around here... just business as usual. Actually wait that's not true! I just found out on Friday that my homie 'V' is coming home in a week. The news couldn't be better and I'm stoked to Celebrate! Hope y'all are doing well and if you know anyone in the music game looking for music, get at my representative and let's get it poppin'!

New York City

Wuddup Gang!?

I'm sorry I've been away from the blog for a minute but I'm back now so pay attention. Before I get started, I just wanted to ask, "don't you find that February is a hard month to grind in?" I mean straight up, I found it very difficult getting anything accomplished with regards to beat-making. Although I did get a lot done on other fronts, I just found that I lacked motivation to make any music whatsoever. I'm not saying I didn't make ANYTHING but I just found it really hard getting inspired and driven to create. However, I found myself cured last week. See I just recently spent the last week in New York City for the first time and let me tell you something...It is my favourite place on Earth. I was staying in Midtown Manhattan, the Waldorf Astoria and the W to be precise and there is so much history that I was immediately overwhelmed with the sensation to bang out some music. There are just so many cool spots and fascinating stories that you can't help but feel creative. For example, something as small as going to John Lennon's old apartment in the Upper West-Side inspired me for I knew that I was standing in the same spot as a musical legend.
Dakota Building Where John Lennon Lived

Furthermore, I found doing anything in New York whether it was finding a small restaurant with famous guests pictures on the wall or simply walking the streets inspired me to do better and work harder.

So essentially that's what it is... I left for New York as a getaway, hoping for inspiration and ended up having the best week of my life. I added a new page at the top of the blog for my appearances and tour spots so I'll try my best in keeping that updated. I figure I'm going to start with only putting a few future spots in there for now and see if I can keep up from there. It's more to give everyone an idea on what's going on inside my head in regards to upcoming important dates that will be significantly affecting my music career. Anyway, I should get back to some of this music but I just wanted to let y'all know what was good with me.

P.S. If you haven't been to the Big Apple...Go!...NOW!

Blast from The Past Part 2

    Wuddup Gang!?

Ok so I told y'all I was going to try and find a pic or two of my dad back in the day and here's what I got. The first one was taken in 1973 which as we all know is just a few years after Woodstock. (BTW Yes, my parents were hippies.) The second pic is the back cover of the Vendetta EP. Dad (DUGGIE) is the singer.

So today I'm going to continue on how my parents first got me so consumed by music. We flash forward to about 1988 or so and my mom and I have moved back to Ottawa from  Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to stay with my grandparents. My mom came back alone and had little...no job, no real belongings...just me! lol Anyway, once my mom got her feet under her, we moved what little we had into a small two bedroom apartment. As I mentioned we didn't have many possessions, but one of the things we did have was a radio. The radio was constantly on and Mom always tells the story that there were many times when we'd be eating dinner and a good song would come on, we'd just stop eating and get up and dance. I was too young to remember those times but I do remember when I was about 8 years old and going to daycare, I used to perform dances at the talent shows. We had moved to a town home by this time so I now used to dance in the basement, put together a routine and then later perform it for my mom. It's too bad we didn't have a video camera during this time because I'm sure the footage would not only be humiliating but absolutely hilarious.

So I used to spend every Wednesday and every second weekend at my dad's house and what people find interesting is that instead of him buying me toys, he instead used to take me to the music store. We'd walk into the shop and he would say pick out any album you want. Whether it was a CD or Cassette, I probably had 100 albums by the age of 10.

Well I have another segment I want to touch on but I'm going to save it for the next post. I hope everyone is having a good weekend and I'll be bloggin' before the weekend. Catch Y'all on the flipside!

Blast from the Past Part 1

    Wuddup Gang!?

So I hope everyone is makin' it through the winter ok. It was really cold last week up in Canada so I was quite happy having an auto-starter installed into my car yesterday. Aside from that I haven't been up to much. I was kickin' it with my buddy Sorin yesterday and he was mentioning that I haven't blogged lately. I've actually been asked this numerous times which I take as a good sign that people are actually reading this! (not to mention I have all of the stats recorded as well but that's besides the point! lol) Well I'll tell y'all what I told Sorin and that is that nobody wants to read about the same thing over and over. No one wants to read, "I worked on some music today in the studio, had some dinner, watched a movie and then went to sleep." I'm going to try my best and keep this thing fresh for y'all. If I'm having just a regular day I'll be just hitting up twitter. However, if something is going down or I feel like sharing some of my past, I'll let you have it via the blog. So on that note I'm going to respond to a commonly asked question and that is how I became so engulfed by music. Well the two word answer would simply be, my parents. Over the next few posts I'll explain why. This is the beginning of The Sean Frost Story.

It all started before I was born, my parents were always deeply influenced by music. They would get tickets to every Act they wanted to see no matter where they were playing. Actually they even went a step further as my dad used to carry a camera/ fake pass around his neck claiming that he was 'Press' so that the two of them could sneak backstage. I know Boss move right? Well that's my dad for you. In fact he was telling me a story last weekend (actually re-telling a story but those are always the best ones right?) of a time that they went to New York to see David Bowie's first show in North America. There were stars and celebrities (including Salvador Dahli...one of my fav Artists) throughout the crowd as this was a huge event. Anyway Dad told me that he left my mom in her seat so he could sneak backstage to get a chance at meeting the Icon David Bowie. He was successful and was actually present to greet Bowie and the band off stage and walk with them back to the dressing room. Although he didn't speak a word, he recounts the experience as something he would always remember. Furthermore, Dad is a singer and played in many bands throughout his youth but there are two groups that stand out in my mind. One being a Canadian Musical that he starred in called, "Starboy" and the other from a band called, "Vendetta". I will see what I can do to grab a photo and throw it up on the next post.

So that concludes Part 1. Over the next couple entries I will keep letting y'all into my musical past so you can see how I got started and some of the things that inspire me when I create. Thanks for reading and I'll get at you guys real soon! Oh and if you have any questions or anything you can keep hitting me up whether it's here, twitter or facebook. (both links are on this page) Peace!

Let Loose

     What's Good Gang!?

I'll tell you guys I have been so focused on music lately that I've realized I haven't really done anything exciting for a minute. I guess that's not such a bad thing with it being Winter and all but in any case tonight I think I'm a link up with the Fam and hit the town...even in this blizzard. It's my dude Leprechaun's birthday tonight so it's definitely on. I'll try and get some pics to show you guys how it went. You know what the funny thing is? It's unless your going out with girls, guys never bring a camera to take any pictures. We could be having the time of our lives and not only would we not remember any of it in the morning, but we would have no classic pictures to try and refresh our memories! #BringingaCameraTonightOnlyToProbablyLoseIt

So Let me fill you guys in a little bit on The Sean Frost Story. (that of course being my life) I have been feeling very motivated lately on creating music that no one is really making. Obviously I've been making some street records and mainstream records but the majority of my time has been spent on really trying to find my niche in this music industry. Over the last couple of weeks I've been feeling really good about the music coming out of here so we'll now see what my Reps can do for me! I believe I've got a jump to Toronto coming up in a couple of weeks for a shoot followed by a little R&R in New York a couple of weeks later. I'm definitely looking forward to both of those little trips right there!

Well...time to run! I'm looking out the window right now and my city is finally getting hit with this snow. We all knew it would come sooner or later but there was always that little bit of hope right? (Obviously not talking to all my Snow Boarders/ Skiers) Ok well I'm seriously leaving. Bye.

Deal is Done

    Wuddup Gang!?

First off Happy New Year to Everyone. Let me tell you things were pretty good over here. The whole Fam came through and we definitely got to bottle poppin'. The next morning during some cleanup I collected 7 bottles of Champagne, 2 bottles of Belvedere, 2 bottles of Goose, 1 Bottle of Ciroc, 1 bottle of Gold Patron, 1 Bottle of Crown Royal, 1 bottle of Malibu and Sour Puss for shots, a few random mickeys and fifths of miscellaneous alcohol and tons of assorted beer bottles. Not to mention a third of the Texas of Crown Royal was consumed. All in all....my people are alcoholics! Anyway we had a wicked countdown followed by widespread Patron shots in honour of my cousin. The music bumped 'til 5am before we shut it down. All in all it was a good one. Here's a pic of some of the bottles we had for the party.

Aside from the bash, I officially signed a representative deal that I'm quite excited about. No longer will I have to deal with negotiating prices and worrying about all the contracts and stuff. Not to mention that it's looking like I'm going to be doing some traveling around the world in the process! Truthfully I'm just stoked to be able to focus on creating music and having everything else taken care of by the professionals. Well I'm actually just running out to the Keg to politic it with the Fam so I'm out but I hope y'all had a great New Year's and I appreciate you stoppin' by to read what's really good! Stay Up and God Bless.
